First Half of the Taiwan Mission Trip 2008

Hi, everyone! Sorry it’s taken me so long to update my blog. The first week in Taiwan has gone really well. Last week, a few of the elementary students decided they wanted to start coming to Sunday school. This morning, we made a caterpillar with the 5 colors to tell the story of Christ. When we finished, one little boy sincerely asked, “Why did Jesus die.” By the way, I’m teaching kindergartners and first graders, so he was pretty young and really wanted to know more about Jesus and His death on the cross. There is another missionary here who was asked by someone to share his testimony. The man genuinely wanted to know why he believed in Jesus and Jason’s testimony was great to hear. We have also heard a lot of awesome testimonies from the people here in Taiwan.
For the last couple weeks, I have God do so many awesome things here in Taiwan! I encourage anyone who feels called to go on a mission trip to go. If there’s something you need but don’t have for the trip, just ask God; if He wants you to go, He will provide everything you need. I’ve seen so many people thirsting for Jesus.
I’ve seen people who believe the things that fortune tellers tell them will certainly come true. The most frightening part is that because of self-fulfilling prophesy, many of the things probably will happen. These people have so much faith in what fortune tellers tell them. What if someone showed them how to put that faith in God’s promises?
Many people in Taiwan regularly worship idols in temples. These gods do not meet the needs of these desperate people. What if someone told them that there is a living God who came down to earth to show us the way, died for our sins, takes care of all of our needs, and loves us more than anyone could possibly imagine?

What if God calling us to a mission trip is an answer to someone’s prayer? The Christians here in Taiwan are so glad to have us here. They have a lot of hope that we will help show Christ to the people of Taiwan. Some of the people here are only waiting for someone to tell them the Good News, waiting for someone to help them get to know Jesus. There are people here asking questions to try to figure out who he is. Please pray for these people and for the children we are teaching. I pray that if God calls you out into the world that you will have faith and follow Him. There are people all over the world still waiting to hear the Good News.
